Another week, another news story involving mobile search. This time it’s a story from Search Engine Land that discovered a “Slow to load” icon accompanying mobile search results. It’s not a permanent feature now, but showcases another example of Google’s attempting to make searches more user friendly.
Follow Live Events with Twitter’s Project Lightning
Twitter is in the middle of creating an immersive experience for users looking to follow current events happening around the world. A button on the home screen will instantly display feeds of various events, from the Super Bowl and the Oscars to natural disasters and breaking news. From there, Twitter will display full-screen photos, videos, and tweets related to each event. If you don’t want this feature, it’s easy to disable.
Google Announces Major Expansion to Google Trends
Discover what people are searching for in real time with Google’s newly updated Trends site. Google worked closely with hundreds of journalists to improve the usefulness of this tool. It now includes a full redesign and integration with YouTube and Google News trends.
